Pure Art

Great art is like all creative processes. It must originate from the
spirit within. To work at and practice meditation is similar. Any other
attempt to create art without this basic foundation is fruitless.

When I have done my best work, the time passes very quickly. I am
completely immersed in the project at hand. It is almost like I am only
a small part in the creation, I only provide the most basic tools, everything
else is done for me. I am an empty vessel that the magic waters of
the creative universe fills.

As an artist, my ultimate desire is to enter into this wondrous state as
frequently as possible. And, in many ways, everything I do is directed
towards being and becoming this wonder.

Not long ago, I was given a birthday present. It was a very inciteful book
entitled, "The Gift" by Lewis Hyde. It is partly an historic account of the
nature of gift giving. The author provides references to many ancient
cultures who used the acts of gift-giving to promote and sustain the
community from within.

The nature of pure art is best described as a gift from the universe. It is
given to the artist who can enter into this "state of wonder" thereby allowing
natural forces to take over in it's creation.

I have recently been attempting to create high quality oil paintings that
surround photographic prints on canvas. I am becoming increasingly
addicted to the process involved in their creations. In fact, at this point
of my life of 64 years, I can easily say that this activity is beginning to
transform me. It is almost like all of my years before has simply been a
curious wandering around of events and cicumstances that has finally
led me to this transformative time. I am very grateful for this realization.

Below, I have included an image of one of my latest creations. I call it,

The Dream Lifestyle

It has always been one of my life time dreams to discover a
truly enjoyable way to generate income. I have always felt
that the happiest people on the planet are those that can
get up each morning and be truly inspired to go to work,
or even better, stay at home and work.

Writers, artists, free-lance entrepreneurs, or any one of
hundreds of occupations that can be done from home
and lead to fulfilling and abundant lifestyles have always
been very attractive to me.

Lately I have been thinking very strongly about becoming
my dreams of creative self-sufficiency. To finally rise
above the thoughts of making money and having enough
of it to be comfortable is truly what living a joyful life is.

One of the realizations that I have discovered is that I
have made myself way too isolated to create this abundant
lifestyle that I crave. I must spend more energy to network
with like-minded people that share my passion of becoming
more financially self-sufficient.

With these thoughts in mind, I am sharing this post with
the goal of finding and communicating with people
who are looking to expand their financial
horizons.

I have recently created two new web-sites that I believe
could help me achieve my financial goals. On these sites,
I have embedded Google Ad-Sense ads that will begin
to generate extra income as I attract more visitors.

As with all new ventures, people start with ideas and then
modify them as time goes on to improve on them. Only
time will tell if the ideas are good.

Cascade Lake

Cascade Lake is one of my favorite lakes in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

There is a road between Emerald Bay and the Lake that I
visit every time I am up there.

It is perfect for photographing both the Emerald Bay area and
Mount Tallac above the Lake.

My latest Art Work features a frozen Cascade Lake.

Mount Tallac Artwork

I thought I would share two more of my artworks with you today.

The first one is called: Mount Tallac I

The second one took a while to finish because I was trying something
new,so I painted it over several times.
Part of the thing that I really enjoy about this
is that there is no right or wrong way to do this.
Every new work is totally experimental.
Also, I am having so much fun that I am less concerned
about the finished result than the learning
that I gain from each new piece.

My new Creative Adventure

I was just looking back on my old posts on this site.
My first one was December13,2008.

My theme throughout these last 3 plus years has been
mostly about doing things that I enjoy. Photography,
music, hiking in the High Sierra, and just driving in the
mountains, listening to the stereo.

I have now discovered a new interest. It combines my
old love for photography and a new interest, painting.
Here is a sample of my most recent work. I call it:

I have named all of these new creations with a roman
numeral. They are:

Mount Tallac I
TaylorCreek Meadow II
Duck on Taylor Creek III
Emerald Bay IV
Sonoma Mountain Sunset V
Lake Tahoe Sunrise VI

I am having so much fun creating these art works. My next
one will have a photograph of Cascade Lake as the print,
and with the colors primarily Red and Blue.

Someday, I hope to sell these works in my own gallery.
And, it would be great to be a part of a larger art community
where other aspiring artists can display and sell their works
as well.

To be involved in a creative venture every day and actually
make a good living doing it, has always been my fondest dream
in life. These first "Landscape Art Works" are my humble beginnings
to achieve this life long goal.
